SARAH ELIZA CORBIN HECKATHORN

Source: Crawfordsville Daily Journal 5 Dec 1902

Sarah Eliza Corbin, daughter of  Abraham and Sarah Corbin was born in Laurel, Clermont County, OH. Jan 15, 1832. She was married at Jamestown IN, Nov 23, 1875 to George Heckathorn to whom she was a faithful wife until his death Aug 25, 1885. No children were born to them. Most of her married life was passed near Ladoga. For 17 years she lived as a widow and on Saturday morning, Nov 29, 1902 at 20 minutes before one o'clock at the home of her nephew and niece, Mr. and Mrs. Benjamin Beal, she left this life. She united with the ME Church at Jamestown before her marriage and lived a consistent and beautiful Christian life. While a great sufferer before her death, she bore her pain with Christian fortitude and bravely without fear and trembling she passed away. Before she died in the afternoon she told her friends she knew she must die and expressed herself as ready and glad and exhorted her relatives and friends to be prepared to meet the common end of all flesh and thus she passed to meet her master and Savior. The funeral services were conducted at the house by Rev. Stafford at half past 2 o'clock and she was laid to rest in the Alamo Cemetery.  -- typed by kbz
